I am good at getting to know new domains and enjoy understanding how a business actually works. For me, that is the most important foundation for successful software development. I work closely with people who know the subject, learn their terminology and understand their workflows before we decide how to build the software.
I bring that understanding into data modelling, API design and product development. It helps us spot misunderstandings early, question assumptions and build software that fits how you work.
Development, architecture and technical direction
I am technology agnostic: I start with your needs, existing systems and the skills in your team. I have worked extensively with Java, Node.js and TypeScript, but I am not tied to a particular stack.

Using AI to help the team move forward
I use AI in development and can help your team find ways of working that improve delivery. That might mean using coding agents for focused tasks, writing useful instructions or getting help with tests and exploring existing code. We still need to understand what we ship and check its quality through testing and code review.
I enjoy helping others do good work. I share working practices, pair with colleagues and help when someone gets stuck. The aim is to make progress together and spend more time on work that needs domain knowledge and engineering judgement.
Building AI solutions and advising on their use
I have experience building AI into products and workflows, from extracting structured data from documents to search, matching and agents. I can help identify useful applications, decide what is worth trying and integrate the solution with your existing systems.
I can stay involved from an early trial through to production, including evaluating responses, building integrations and tracking quality, cost and response time. I am happy to advise along the way, but also enjoy developing the software myself. AI needs to address a real need, and sometimes a simpler solution is the right choice.
Experience across sectors
My experience spans digital products and SaaS, banking and finance, pensions and insurance, public administration, retail and logistics. I have worked in product teams and larger organisations, on new software and modernisation.
From understanding the need to daily operations
I can contribute throughout delivery, from understanding needs and prioritising work to architecture, data modelling, APIs, user interfaces, testing and deployment. You can bring me in as a developer focused on the code, a tech lead or someone combining several of these responsibilities.
I also enjoy operational work. I have handled production incidents, troubleshooting, monitoring and automated deployments, and worked closely with finance and backoffice on invoicing data, data quality and situations the software does not yet cover. That helps me understand what needs to work day to day and what we should improve next.
